The International Bird Beer Label Association is 17 years old in 2010!
This organization began as the American Bird Beer Label Association. However, in November 2000
we changed ‘American’ to ‘International’ to more accurately reflect the worldwide scope of our checklist
and membership.
Membership Guidelines
To become a Contributing Member of IBBLA, one
must submit (send or hand deliver) a previously undocumented bird beer label or can - or full beer delivered in person
- to one of the founding members or IBBLA at:
I.B.B.L.A. P.O. Box 2551 Homer, AK 99603
¨ The reporting of bird beer
label subspecies (unlisted varieties of an already documented beer/species) is appreciated and new sightings will be added
to the above list. However, subspecies sightings do not qualify one as a Contributing Member. ¨
The identified bird must be on a bottle’s or can’s label – birds found on the beer boxes, cartons,
bottle caps, coasters, brochures, etc. do not qualify as valid submissions. Submission of a label with a bird name but no
image of a bird does not qualify one as a Contributing Member. ¨ A full, authentic home-brewed
beer must accompany all home brew sightings. We have received many sightings in past years and want to congratulate
our members on their perseverance in conducting outstanding field work…no matter what the country, the weather, or
enthusiasm of your drinking (ie. birding) partners. The IBBLA field team is made up
of individuals and couples from all over the globe. This group's collective checklist now includes over 350 bird
beer species, scores of subspecies, and 3 homebrews. We encourage those of you who have mentioned possession of possible new bird beer species to
us in past years - and still have the labels, bottles or cans - to submit these by post so they can be properly documented
and added to our next checklist update.
